Silver ion dressing is an antibacterial dressing which is made of compound high molecular hygroscopic fibre and silver compound.

Silver ion dressing releases siver ion when it comes in contact with the exudate of the wound.
Silver ion combines with apoenzyme of bacteria & kills it.
Siver ion can also combine with DNA/RNA of virus & inhibits its growth.
Silver ion increses the concentration of Zinc, Calcium & Copper ion in wound & promotes healing.

Silver ion dressing has very strong antibiotic action, even against drug resistant bacteria.
Provides long & continous antimicrobial action against bacteria & virus. One dressing is usually effective for 5-7 days.
Silver ion discharge is directly proportional to exudate, therefore more the exudate, more discharging of Silver ions.
Do not stick to wound, causing minimum pain & secondary damage to wound on removal.

Clean the wound with saline water before using and make the skin around the wound dry.
Silver ion should not be dipped in saline water.
Silver ion dressing needs to be used with other dressings, such as foam dressing, alginate calcium dressing.

Can be used for highly exudated, infected wound and wounds tending to be infected.
Highly effective against chronic wounds (such as diabetic wounds, venous leg ulcers etc.)
Can also be used for organ transplant wounds.
