The Hydrocolloid dressing being a family of wound management products contains gel forming agents like carboxymethylecellulose sodium etc. They are combined with elastomers and adhesives over a sheet of polyurethane film to form an absorbent, self-adhesive water proof dressing. In the presence of wound exudates the adhesive mass absorb the liquid and forms a gel, the properties of which are determined by the nature of the formulation, some dressing form a cohesive gel. which is largely contained within the adhesive matrix; other form more mobile, less viscous gels which are not retained within the dressing structure.
It is adaptable to different phases of wounds, especially heavy exudated wounds. Hi degree burns.
Pressure ulcers, Non-healing ulcers. Skin donor site wounds.
Silver ion discharge is directly proportional to exudate, therefore more the exudate, more discharging of Silver ions.
